When I was in second grade, I wasn't thinking two years ahead and I surely wasn't thinking about getting a phone. I was probably more concerned with things like candy and which tree to climb next.
Yikes.

Zoe, who is in 1st grade, has been asking "When can I get my own phone?" since Kindergarten. Usually she answers for herself, saying "maybe I'll get one when I am 16, or 12 or some other random age" and I am not required to answer the question...
